11 bar Nissan Leaf with excellent Mot history. Very sensible second motor for circa £2,500 I think. Very tempted myself, but current direction of thought is that I’m going to buy SWMBO’s Leaf when she upgrades this year or early next.

That does look like a bargain, what does SWMBO fancy next? Keeping her leaf yourself does make sense I guess.

She has access to a workplace lease scheme via NHS fleet through her work and the deals are fantastic sometimes. Much will depend on what’s available at the time.

SLO76 thanks for all your invaluable insights. I've learnt a lt.

Sure you are already there, but just in case .... some of the NHS Salary Sacrifice car schemes can impact the defined benefit pension. Potential for a cheap car with other hidden costs.

Once again, thanks for all your input over the years.

You could probably literally never spend a pound on that maintenance wise and it'll still be going just as it is in 3 years time.

Charged on an overnight tariff if you have access to one and it's basically free motoring.

Being a pre 2017 model you won't get hit with higher road tax either (we'll, possibly £20)

I'd be surprised if that didn't get snapped up quite quickly.

Loads of em around at less than £3k. People are scared of them, no way of being 100% certain the battery pack will last. It’s most likely it will, but people looking at cheap cars can’t afford to lose their money if it fails and there are too many stories on EV Facebook pages telling of battery pack failures. It’s a total punt, well worth it if you can take the loss.

Yes, although a lot of the really cheap ones are pre-2014 model which have the older battery and often are seriously degraded.

The sweet spot is the 2014-2017 24Kwh which seem to be standing up well.

There are some bargain 30Kwh ones out there with a lower number of bars which might just need the software update from Nissan or might not......regardless they are a gamble.

Probably best to get the last of the 2017 lot before the VED changed in march of that year to take full advantage of the £0 band and the best chance at battery life.

Given how low some relatively new EVs have been on sale locally to me - especially those with relatively small battery packs to start with (e.g. the Mazda MX-30 [non-range extender version]), these Leafs must be going for peanuts in comparison.

By comparison, I've seen similar sized / performing (speed / acceleration, not range) pure ICE cars going for near £10k if in good nick, with autos adding another 10%+. Silly prices (at 50-60%+ of the original new RRP for a 7-8yo car), but understandable, given supply & demand.
