Mini Cooper 2024 - Active bonnet - Jane Duffy
Hi
I have had my Mini Cooper for 2 days when the active bonnet was activated due to a deer crossing my path. There was no collision, the deer wandered around in the road & then headed off & there isn’t a sign of dent, scratch or even dirt on the front of my car. Has anyone else had problems with this?

Active bonnet is part of the pedestrian safety system. It’s likely the pyro lifters have fired . It doesn’t damage the bonnet, but I’d get the system checked.

Thank you. As there was no collision, how likely is it there might have been a malfunction? I’ve only had the vehicle 2 days & we meet deer on our roads here all the time!

My acctive bonnet on the Skywing activated going over a post-typhoon subsidence-dip in the road at speed, to actively warn me of the dip, and of the fact that I hadnt closed it actively enough

.It got quite actively bent, and I had to actively hit it with a BF Active Hammer, and some jack action, and actively positioning the car on top of it,and some active jumping up and (passively) down to get it adequately flat.

Miss that kind of activity

Yes, it says take to service agent
I did & it’s going to be a four figure repair cost. The diagnostic says the front right bumper is misaligned indicating a likely impact.

4 figure repair ? Rather deer.

A son hit a pheasant in his then 6 week old car about 12 months ago - no panel damage but 2 pieces of grill / air intake plastic - parts were £200+ plus 1.5 hours labour (bumper off needed for access) + VAT- just under £500

As a general rule of thumb, don't take your car to a dealership for body repairs. Many of them will pass the job to a professional bodyshop, to which you could go direct and avoid the extra mark-up.

OP states they've had the car for two days and it's a 2024 model. Maybe an earlier impact and cheap repair?
