Any - Rubber mats smell - Lrac

Just purchased a new set of decent quality rubber mats and as expected they do smell quite a bit. I don't need to use them urgently so i have put them in the garden to "vent".

Any suggestions for dealing with this issue i.e jet wash etc?

Usually the smell will disappear over time. I once put some rubber sound proofing in an old car and it did smell initially, but became unnoticeable.

I think you are doing the right thing by airing them. If you can find sunshine that would help too. Personally I am wary of jet/pressure washing anything containing rubber.
Non-pressure washing with a vinegar solution might help too but, as corax says, time will resolve the smell anyway.

I used to pressure wash rubber (and carpet) mats all the time in a previous life as a car valeter, never experienced any negative effects.

But I doubt doing so would have any effects on the smell of new mats
