Renault Clio - ATS Moan - malct

I made a post back in September regards ATS and the fact that they wrote down the wrong mileage in the log book and that they didn't pick up on a broken shocker during a major service.

Before the service , I informed ATS that my car had an advisory with the off side rear service brake binding and that i needed the brake repaired and after the service, I was told that it was due to the cable and it was now repaired. At the time of the service, My car had done 47550 miles On Saturday my car failed its MOT on the very brake that i reported binding

Date tested

4 January 2025

FAIL

Mileage

49,308 miles

Offside Rear Service brake excessively binding (1.2.1 (f))

Rear Brakes imbalanced across an axle (1.2.1 (b) (i))

As you can see , The car has only done 1758 since its Major service so it begs the question what kind of checks did ATS do on the brakes and i have advisory's on the front brakes and a corroded brake pipe that will need replaced.

I understand that a MOT test is only good for the day it was completed, But you would expect if you have given your car a Major service, a lot of these things would have been brought up.

I had emailed ATS back in September and i just got a nasty email back from the general manager, So i won't be using them again but i do think that i wasted money having a major service on my car when they didn't pick things up. I even had to chase them up for the service documents which half wasn't filled out.. Anyways , Just a moan about ATS

I don't remember the original post, but surely all you needed to do re the mileage discrepancy was have them amend it (initialled or with a signature?)

With regards to your brakes binding, this is going to happen when the car is used so little.

But it sounds like the garage in question is just incompetent. They haven't actually damaged or broken anything, just failed to do things or pickup on things they should have. Much worse would be if they'd charged you for a brake service or new shocker which they didn't actually do. Now you'll know not to use them again and find a trusted local indy instead.

It's no help, but personally I wouldn't take my car for servicing at a place which specialises in replacing tyres and batteries - tho I would have hoped they could deal with brakes ! Our local ATS is good at what ATS claims to be good at, so I get my tyres there.
