My car was first registered in Jan 2017 and after the last service in August i was told that the passenger side daylight running light wasn't working and it will be a MOT Fail when it gets a MOT (This was at ATS)
I have just been to the local Garage who did my last MOT to ask if they could supply and fit a new DTRL and they they told me that they don't do them because of all the hassle trying to take the old one out and fitting a new one which may include removing the front bumper .
They told me not to worry to much about it because the car would still pass its MOT even if the light isn't working . I only spoke with the lady on the Reception and the MOT Examiner was on Holiday this week, But she will ask the question and get back to me when he gets back.
I just want to know if this is the correct information since ATS was adamant that the car would fail a MOT and also can i disconnect them?
Basically, Both DTRLs work during the day , But once the side lights come on, The Drivers side dims and the passenger side goes out completely.
Looking back in Honest John , I found the following , It only says broken , So may have still been working.
Would a broken daytime running light be an MoT fail?
My 2013 Volvo V40 offside daytime running light is out - would this be an MoT fail?

No, the car will not fail the MoT. Daytime running lamps are only inspected on cars first used on or after 1 March 2018.
