Route YC Tour - Jonathan1990

Here in Yorkshire right along the coast they have done a car tour known as Route YC. It covers North and East Yorkshire naturally starting at Staithes where the Teesside/North Yorkshire boundary is. The tour covers the 6 seaside towns along the Yorkshire Coast and can be split into 6 local tours too. I'll put in a description of them all.

1. The Whitby Route

Covers between Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay.

2. The Scarborough Route

Covers between Ravenscar and Cayton Bay along with a drive around Scarborough's seafront.

3. The Filey Route

Covers between Lebberston and Reighton with a drive in Filey down along the seafront and up into town centre eventually returning to A165.

4. The Bridlington Route

Covers Bempton, Flamborough and Bridlington.

5. The Hornsea Route

Covers between Lissitt and Aldborough taking Hornsea seafront in the middle.

6. The Withernsea Route

Covers between Aldborough and the most southernly end at Spurn Point taking in Withernsea town in the middle.

Route YC Tour - Xileno

I have checked out the thread and poster and all is genuine. Hence bringing it back to public view and also moving it to the Motoring forum as it is afterall a motoring thread.

Please report any suspicions of spammers to the Mods rather than raising it in public, we can see things general members can't such as an individual's posting history.

Could we please continue discussions accepting it's genuine.

Thanks

Mod

Don't think about taking the bus to Whitby though. The operator has said the prices could increase to £25 for a return ticket on the Coastliner 840 service if the budget cuts go ahead.

As an ex Mod Johnathan... First of all sorry you felt aggrieved.

The current mods do a very hard job. The amount of spam is huge.

Sometimes other posters think it is spam and it gets looked at.

The Mods are volunteers and xileno also works full time.

But enjoy the forum and carry on.

I'll be up that way soon so will explore part of the routes.

Locals may be aggrieved that the Yorkshire Coast trips excludes the stretch all the way to Middlesbrough, which to most will always be Yorkshire!

However for anyone looking at this area don't stop at the North Yorkshire boundary, continue to Saltburn and Marske for the long stretches of beach. Saltburn in particular is a Victorian/Edwardian gem of a place with everything a British coastal town should have, but on a small scale. Pier, slots, fish and chips and the cliff railway to get you down to the beach.

As an added bonus on street parking on the cliff top is still free.

It doesn't cover past Staithes in Northerly direction with the boundary for North Yorkshire been there. Route YC also has an app which I have downloaded showing you everything there is to do along the route. There should be another one Route NE covering the coast from Saltburn to Holy Island taking in Hartlepool and Sunderland. Don't know of anywhere else in the UK that has done something like this though.

Agree...Saltburn is a great little town...and the fish and chips on the sea front are fabulous.!
