Daihatsu are not the only maker in Japan having made these superb little squared off MPVs for many years,

...reminds me of the Fiat Multipla.

the genuine conservatism (ie conserving, the opposite of current Conservatism) of the Japanese is wonderful, i've long admired that nation and its people.

I was walking down the street and found a Toyota dealer with a land cruiser on display.

Went to take a peek and a nice young man came out and after a bit of confusion asked if he could help.

Upshot was that after a short discussion and opened it for me, even though I wasn't going to buy did I want a test drive.
