While I've had no problem with connector blocks on my yesteryear cars, perhaps some modern circuitry might be more fussy re the contact resistances involved.
IF the trouble code/light comes back after clearing, you MIGHT benefit from using a crimped connector, though these require special tools. Lidl currently has a stripper/crimper set for 7.99 which looks OK, though the connectors supplied with it probably arent the best you can get..
Alternatively, I THINK that latterly I improved my use of connector blocks by changing the orientation of the wires, so that they both enter the block in parallel from one side. The first screw tightens down on the wire insulation, securing the wires in place, while the second screw tightens down on the two bare ends, which are twisted together.
This makes for a more awkward wire run than a linear wire-in-each-end arrangement but may be OK if you have enogh space and slack
For real belt-and-braces you could also solder these wires, but I havnt done that very often, since my soldering is lousy.
I usually goop up the connector with something to resist corrosion, but this seems to be controversial.
