I'm rather surprised you could do it with any cars, unless they were very similar models. Is there any commonality of seat runners between makers - they redesign almost everything else ?

Not sure exactly how it was done and the only similarities I can think of between the three cars involved was that they were front engined and rear wheel drive. A MK2 Escort estate came after the Daf, then a Hillman Hunter. What I do know is that my Uncle was a mechanic and most likely played a part!

Following up on the 2 tyres needed bit, fitted 2 235/55R18 Kormoran tyres yesterday. £202.80 the pair. Tracking checked but in order.

Way beckon the dim and distant past, one of the cars my Dad had was a Daf 55 Variomatic (CVT).

I had reason to drive a nearly new Daf 55 when i was 18, compared to the well past its (awful) best Morris 1100 i owned at the time it was a revelation in how it drove, thoroughly enjoyed it and could easily have lived with one had i more than tuppence to my name at the time.

I had two Daf 55s, as commented above the seats were really comfortable, performance was good considering the modest Renault engine it had.

The only reason I finally changed to a Cortina was the pain of adjusting and changing drive belts: 20 setscrews held on the plastic under-shield which had to be removed for these actions.
