Vauxhall Mokka - Faulty Dual Mass Flywheel - Michael178
Hi, any advice greatly appreciated

I bought the car last October (2023) It had a new Clutch and Dual Mass Flywheel fitted prior to me buying it in March 2023. The previous owner passed on the receipt for this to me. Recently I have been getting vibration through the clutch pedal and pedal occasionally sticks, a local garage took it for a drive and had a brief look and determined it would be the Dual Mass Flywheel at fault and I should contact the garage that fitted it. I did this but garage are not accepting any responsibility as it was fitted over 12 months ago even though the car has only done around 1000 miles since new clutch was fitted. Surely the flywheel should last longer than this and garage should accept some responsibility?

Many thanks for any advice

DMFs last longer than that. Sounds like the previous owner was swindled ? Tho possibly the job was botched ?

Not convinced about the diagnosis from your garage. I would have though the sticking clutch pedal would be caused by a faulty clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder. Though, others on here may have different thoughts.

Even if the problem is due to the work done by the original garage, due to you not being their customer (and also with the amount of time that has passed), I don't see that you have any comeback with them.

Thanks for reply fiesta owner The Master Cylinder was replaced around a month ago as it was suggested it was this originally, I had a quote of £750 which included 8 hours labour, being a cheapskate I looked for cheaper quotes and Clickmechaniic did it for £430, it only took them just over a hour so was a bit confused as to why garage quoted 8 hours, needless to say problem remains. Local garage says there are drops of oil on pivot pin which could be from master cylinder. I have started a complaint procedure with Clickmechanic. Could this cause the vibration in the pedal aswell ans it sticking? Also I omitted to say when accelerating the clutch pedal depresses slightly on its own.

From your description, I would think it more likely to be a clutch problem. Something running out of true . Any idea what make are the clutch and flywheel ? Loads of cheap parts out there .

I can't see how the garage that fitted the clutch would be responsible; you were lot their customer.

It sounds like whoever did your master cylinder didn't do it properly. I would go directly to them (or through Clickmechanic if you don't know who it was) and ask them to sort it. If you think that's a non starter, get a proper garage to fix it and learn not to use Clickmechanic again.
