BMW 320i - Bought a new car - forgot to tax when I paid it - crxg

I paid for the car, but forgot to tax it. It was already taxed, but halfway down the motorway I realised I hadn't taxed it myself. Obviously a lot of ANPR cameras. Would the police or DVLA come after me and issue me a fine for this? Or is it ok as it is already taxed just not in my name (I know since 2017 you have to tax it at sale, but presumably to an ANPR camera it will still show as taxed).

I think the authorities would only be interested if it wasn't continuously taxed (the police aren't interested as it's a DVLA problem). If you bought it in the middle of the month, the tax would expire immediately, but as long as you tax it before the end of the month, you'll be paying for the whole month.
