I do a lot of city driving, probably around 50/70 mile a day....
...assuming 5 day week = c.300miles...assuming 40 full time weeks work a year = c.12,000 miles
and occasions I’m down to London from Scotland once/twice a week...
..assuming 50 return drives from Edinburgh c.800 miles return = c.40,000 mies.
Grand total more than 50,000 miles a year. Assuming 20p a mile fuel and oil costs, that's around £10,000 pounds per annum. If you can't afford a Lexus, I would stick to an economical diesel saloon with a good Cd; more economical on the motorway than an SUV.
Depreciation is a big factor here. If your Audi was new, you will have already endured huge depreciation as people usually won't pay much for a high miler, even if fairly new, so why not run it till it dies? Any actual improvement in fuel economy from a replacement presumably newer car will be more than offset by its rapid depreciation, whereas your current older Audi, if you keep it, will depreciate far more slowly.
Finally, what sort of unreconstructed 20th century job is this that requires so much socially unacceptable consumption of fossil fuel by (presumably) one person sitting for hundreds of hours a year moving a large metal box on wheels?
