Not practical for long distances.

Cost of charging stations too high. Not enough electricity generation to cope.

Not quite true. It's a resolution, not a promise, and has a long way to go to be approved.

Nice sensational headline, though.

Wyoming is roughly the same size as the UK in terms of land mass, but has a similar population to the city of Edinburgh. In addition, most of the state is very rural, so I suspect the demand for EV's would be very small anyway.

It is just a sensationalist headline to grab the attention of the anti-EV brigade who will then gleefully post it anywhere proclaiming, "look, we were right all along"

He’s a crackpot Republican who’s doing his bit to appeal to his redneck 8 litre V8 pickup driving supporters.

A proper report here:

As others have said it's MAGA type Republicans making a point. Even the sponsors admit it's about promoting discussion on banning gas (i.e. petrol) vehicles.

The whole Net Zero scam has nothing to do with Climate Change. The UK’s contribution to CO2 is minuscule anyway.

People need to wise up that this whole Green thing has been hijacked by the Far Left. It is a means of control. Control where you can drive and when. Look at Canterbury and Oxford with their proposals, plus the expansion of ULEZ on London. Strange that Heathrow Airport will be part of the ULEZ expansion, but they want to build an extra runway there. How will that cut pollution?

BEV’s are a disaster for the environment. The mining of the ore’s for the battery supports slavery in Africa. The fossil fuels burned fabricating the batteries. The weight of the cars makes them inherently inefficient, and they put more wear and tear on our roads. The charging infrastructure is a joke, and this winter the national grid has struggled to keep the lights on in the country during calm, cold weather.

EV’s are a totally impractical fad with their mainly gas and nuclear generated electricity. The sale of them should be banned.

I seem to remember it was a Conservative government that proposed the 2030 ban on the sales of ICE vehicles. Hardly far left. Unless you’re looking from a very long way to the right.

The current Conservative government is more like Labour than Labour.

It is “Conservative” in name only. Technically it is now a high tax and spend social democrat party.

That sounds like a flimsy argument in favour of doing nothing about it. Almost any nation could claim a minuscule CO2 contribution and do nothing. There may be no direct scientific proof that global warming is due to human activity, but the statistical probability is pretty high.

You may be right that total conversion to EVs is globally unachievable though, and would probably not alleviate global warming much. The only actions which would (IMHO) are a reduction in habitual global travel or in population (pretty unlikely). Most of us on here could take the head-in-the-sand approach and say it's a problem for the next generation(s) to solve. Personally I may be glad not to live through it.

Ahh the usual right wing conspiracy theories from the US , regurgitated by those in the Rest of the World incapable of devising their own.

Secondhand conspiracy theories are a pale semblance of the crackpot originals so less amusing.:(

We've been over all these issues time and time again and quite recently in recent EV threads. I really can't see there's anything further to add and given the likely direction this thread will take I'm putting it to bed early.
