Audi B7 - Audi A4 B7 - Radio replacement - Jetsam1

Hi,

May be looking at an Audi A4 Avant B7 (mainly due to petrol and no turbo etc) but it has a cassette player. Normally I wouldn't care too much but I am just thinking that if I go for it I would consider changing this out for an Audi unit most likely with CD player at the minimum.

I have had fun with this sort of thing before. How much of a problem are Audis and radio head replacement?

This is pre buying so I may not actually do it but in case it is something I would start exploring.

If buying a genuine Audi radio unit , just make sure it is supplied with the security code . An aftermarket unit will fit , but may near some wiring adapters to make it work.

There is a VAG breaker specialist fairly close to us so should be able to source a genuine Audi unit relatively easily. Would aim to keep it all factory rather than aftermarket.

The only complication is lowering the climate control module which I presume should be fairly simple as I have seen plenty with this module right down, depends on the cables really.

If changing for a single play CD player , no need to touch the climate panel .

My son only had a cassette player on his previous Octavia mkI and used a cassette to 3.5mm adapter to connect his mobile phone / music source. I think you can get similar these days with Bluetooth.

Also why not consider a double DIN conversion with an up to date Apple Carplay/ Android Auto? I think Pioneer do an update kit.

i have the same car it really amazing one but the one i have is LHD car i had many offers to sell but i do not want to sell it because i love it
