Skoda Octavia Estate - Sold car with engine damage - SFaulkner

Bought a car recently that started to make a lot of noise within 8-10 weeks of purchase.

Turns out after ringing the garage that serviced and repaired the car it had previously had a snapped cam belt .We had not been told of the damage to the engine and the report said cambelt worn .

Obviously we would not of bought the car had we known it had severe engine damage ,Rocker arms and cylinder head were replaced due to damage but not sure if anything else was replaced .

Now i'm told the cylinder head needs replacing again after 34000 and a rocker arm is broken or hydraulic lifter is that the same thing i'm not sure ?

Is this normal for the cylinder head etc to need replacing again in 1 year .

Thanks for any help or advice especially from experienced mechanics .

In a word, no - at least if the repairs were done properly. You haven't told us the age or mileage of the car, and any more history you know of ?

Cam belt snapped at 90000, age of car is 4 years it’s 2018 .Engine started to make a strange noise at 124,000.
Normal service history .

Was this a private or trade seller? (Hopefully) obviously, the repair when the belt snapped should have encompassed any and all damaged elements and you would have a practically good as new engine.

Given the high mileage I am assuming you have a diesel engine, If so, I might hazard a guess that oil change intervals may have been too long for the engine's good. The service history may appear 'normal' (i.e. meeting the maker's schedule) but we all know what that is intended for.
