Seat Toledo 1.2 TSI 2016 - Rear Wiper sticking - up north

Rear wiper works intermittently or in other words it sticks usually in the centre of screen or doesn't return to where it should. Replaced wiper blade. If I lift it up the motor seems to be working fine. Cleaned glass. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Agreed. I have just had the motor replaced on my Toledo as it gradually got worse before eventually grinding to a halt entirely.

Thanks to both of you. The Toledo seems to have issues with blocked rear water jet which after many clearings became completely blocked, so mechanic son replaced that as part only around £5 from a dealers. Just trying to rule out that he hasn't done something to wiper in the process! It did stick occasionally but moreso now, but more than likely as you say the motor is on the way

The big problem with most vag rear wiper motors, is that the water tube for the rear screen runs through the motor . They inevitably leak and flood the internal workings of the motor and/or mechanism.

What did it cost you as the motor seems to be pricey, thanks

There's a 10 year one for £90, reconditioned ones for £105 or SEAT new one online cheapest £138, local dealer wants £191 for one!

It was the rear motor. There's a Seat Part place online does it £60 cheaper than a dealership. My son is a mechanic and said it was a simple swap so cost of the price of the motor £138. So best to buy the part and get someone competent to swap over to save a lot of cash! So two problems on a 6 year old car have been water leak from plastic housing requiring a new water pump so cambelt changed at same time. And leak from rear washer wiper motor! Nother issues, so not bad!

It's sad when the original design of a part like a rear-screen wiper motor makes replacement by a used example a non-starter. I replaced the entire wiper motor and mechanicals for my 1994 Pug 306 for £25 on E-bay. I guess that is why your new motor costs silly money.
