Hi everyone,
I've seen another post about about this but it's a year or so old, so i though it would be worth checking for more recent info. I've taken my car to the garage due to acceleration issues mainly at higher gears, the car struggles to maintain pace on the motorway i'm in the slow lane doing 60 mph especially when there's a slight incline. There is also a light engine rattle.
The garage said it's looking like the timing belt needs replacing but they don't do the job because it's a huge faff and requires specialist tools etc. From what i can gather ford's original design was that the timing belt would last the life of the car, but they then changed it to need replacing at 150,000 miles or 10 years old. I guess they didn't put much thought into servicing / replacement process.
I've been verbally quoted £1000 + by ford for the job.
Just wondering if anyone has bit the bullet and got this job done / and if it was worth it? I've personally never had any issues with this car before so i'm tempted to get it sorted. I've looked online and prices for my exact car range from like £3,500 to £6000, so by no means an economical right off. Any advice would be appreciated.
