GF persuaded me to buy one of those Lithium jump starter packs from Costco. Deltran "Battery Tender" brand.

User Manual of course all in Chinese, and the (US) company seems to have an unusually flakey website that more than half the time doesn't find the products, but I managed to hit a window of opportunity to download a pdf.

Havn't tested the device yet. I'd imagine it should start my sub-litre 3 cyl engine without too much trouble, but I'm wondering if I'd be better spending possibly a bit more and getting a supercapacitor based jump pack, which ought to have a longer service life.

This seems to be the market leader (or at least the most widely advertised)

There's now a SuperCap 2 and a SuperCap 2 "lite" (I think that means light, as in not so heavy).

Any experience/opinions?

Can't remember last time I had to jump start a car. What you have would be adequate for your car. Problem would be as is a lithium cell it would lose its charge over time. So maybe a monthly charging routine would be a good idea.

Yeh, that's why I thought a supercap-based device might be better.

Probably shouldn't be relevant, but that ".pdf" manual file came down with an .NL extension (Natron file format) requiring special software to read it.

No idea what they think they are playing at, but that's almost of itself sufficiently irritating for me to ask for my money back off Costco, if not too late.

Call me a resistant consumer.

Or a grumpy old man.
