Bought a cloned vehicle pls help - Mr_white

Hello,

We think we may have bought a cloned vehicle. Absolutely gutted. Paid cash and no way of contacting the seller.

We're interested to buy it from the insurer but don't know how to find out who they even are. Tried contacting our insurance company who said they couldn't share it due to data protection.

From what I've read the police just seize the vehicle and don't give any data as to the legitimate owner / insurance company who have a legit claim to the van.

Besides ringing every insurer in the country, what can we do?

Thanks

This sounds as if you aren't sure. Presumably you have a V5 for the car - does the printed VIN match the one on the vehicle ? It should be visible through the windscreen and hidden in other places.

What is the car and how much did it cost ?

What do you mean, no way of contacting the seller? How did you get in touch with them in the first place?

I thought the V5 had the previous owners name on it?

If that link to police property Act did not work SEct 1
