Yes it was a distressed sale - Ssangyong was bankrupt so the buyer get a cheap entry into a global car brand.

SsangYong Korando - Decision made - Falkirk Bairn

SSangyong Korea have been rescued from bankruptcy by Edison a Korean bus builder. SSangyong had failed to meet a debt payment of $40m US IIRC

I hope they survive and thrive, I am quite fond of the brand for having stuck to proper body on frame construction for its flagship model. I just wish they would change the name, as shallow as that is.
