Hi i am considering at the moment either JAGUAR XF or Xe, diesel since they are only used option and very popular or infinity sedan for example infinity m or their suvs,
fx.ex petrol;. my question is in what things Jaguar is better or worse compared to that brand is Jag more reliable and more cheap to maintain and more parts available or i really want to make the right choise.
Do u think Jaguar is better than, Honda,Lexus ,mazda,,Infinity or Volvo and if yes why : )

At the moment i am considering all of these brands so its hard ,

but here is some info, regarding honda i must get old honda, lots of miles, and some issues, in the end it will cost same price as jaguar xf 2014 year,

and honda will be year 2009 , petrol manual 2.4 engine,

Lexus are extremely expensive, i will be able to afford lexus with no option at all maximum year 2011 hybrid IS, no option at all,

mazda i can get cx 3 year 2015 i think, petrol 150 hp very slow and not so high end equipment - and lack of service history.

Volvo cost more than jag,

probably missing service history, it have better equipment d5 diesel auto box,

Jag xf diesel 2.2 auto zf it have full service history 1 step above basic equipment,

,Infinity i got option for hybrid 3.5 h for example q50s or q70 or m the thing is they are basic bare models with no options at all price is same like jag... please advice .

Which one i should choose .

in terms of relibility servicing etcs.

Go back to your previouis thread, only a month ago: you were given plenty of good advice there. I don't think that any of it would have favoured a diesel Jaguar.

Don't even think of a Jaguar, but if you really really want to see trouble, go to the jaguar forums.

Just get yourself a new car on a PCP. repeat in 3 years.

Suzuki Vitara 1.4t the S version Auto 4wd.. 2016 on Has adaptive cruise control. O to 60 in 9.7seconds . Reliable , comfy 5yr corrosion warranty. Second hand its in your price range. 140bhp and a complete lack of attraction to thieves. It has the same tunable engine as the Suzuki Swift Sport.

It's called a money pit.

By all means get one and service it correctly. But be prepared for big bills.

From an ex jaguar parts manager.

The only way to consider one is with a full jaguar warranty.

That's jaguar's OWN warranty when buying the car from a jaguar franchised dealer.

I still would not buy for myself

If you absolutely must have one then stick with the older PSA 2.2 diesels. Later JLR 2.0’s are notorious for EGR and fuelling issues along with the usual JLR quality and electrical woes. Don’t buy one if money is much of a consideration as these will go wrong and in the absence of a good Jag specialist they really do need annual maintenance dealer attention to retain value and any sort of reliability. They are very pleasant things to drive, even the base 163PS 2.2. I’d rather have a Honda Accord, Mazda 6 (petrol) or a nice Mondeo (manual only) rather than risk an older, higher mileage Jag. Perhaps a nice Volvo S60 (manual) would be a good alternative too.

In your previous thread much was made of the need for adaptive cruise control due to a change of priorities(?), which was given as the reason for a new thread as opposed to what you had been advised on previous threads.

No mention of adaptive cruise control on this thread, does this mean your priorities have changed again and you no longer need it?.

In the original post on this thread, you mention Lexus and then later on, Infiniti, complaining about only being able to get a 'basic' one with no options at all. Not really sure what you are on about, I am unaware of the existence of any Lexus or Infiniti which is poorly equipped.

But looking at this thread and previous ones, and especially your opinion on what a car equipped to a basic level means, I'm not sure you are ever going to find the car you want (at least until you have won the lottery).

Put quite simply - any 8-10 year old premium motor can go wrong.

Any repairs on a car that cost £40-60k when new will batter the wallet. Lexus have a somewhat better reputation but they are not risk free.

If you are pragmaticl rather than after a "feed the ego, lighten the wallet" experience buy rationally - say a four year old, 40k on the clock, Focus or similar.

The jag which i will see after

few days have ACC - adaptive cruise,

full service history mostly done by dealership, and other with genuine parts, etcs.

and most importantly,

car is real milleage,

I still need acc and all of the cars i mentioned got this option,

here where i live in BG - these cars are very rare.

considering several cars jag ,volvo vs infinity... - Avant

If BG means Bulgaria, as in the letters on a numberplate, you'd be even madder to get a Jaguar. If they're rare, so will be dealers and spare parts.

If you're not going to pay any attention to advice, why come on here asking for it?

At the moment for 12 years i drive honda accord - people all around the world claim they are trouble free

so far i changed everything on that car several times,

i imported most parts from the uk genuine and brand new car is 30 years old,

so i dont expect jag to be worse than my current car i can also import used parts for everypart of the world, i checked prices for used autobox, turbo, injectors, dpf and other things on the used marked with low milleage i dont find them much higher compared to other brands i think infinity parts are much more expensive and acura parts from usa are way more expensive used acura box same year 2014 for example from usa will cost me at least 2000gbp - used gearbox for jag will cost me at in good condition 500 gbp less or little bit more so i find car very reasonable priced,

huge bills u can have with any car.

in bg we have 2 or 3 pages of

jags for sale,

for infinity hybrid we have in whole country 2 cars for sale with base level of equipment , volvo manual doesnt exist here

volvos are either insanely expensive older years or with problematic gearbox or other issues,

honda accord very old with issues and in the time u fix them and spend the money u will buy a used jag which will be 6-7 years newer so u can sale it much easier , honda accord are cars blast from the paste no longer in production for europe , mazdas are also very rare with good engines u can find base or decent mazdas with smaller 1.5 engine i think very small, not powerfull. car will be used only outside the city, highway ,

insurance for all of these cars is the same,

Jag is out of warranty so we will use alternative dealerships.

not official, parts i will import from abroad. Which i currently do for my old honda accord since i preffer quality and genuine parts and decent prices,

Jaguar Land Rover make good off road cars. By that I mean they are good at spending a lot of time off the road and in the garage being repaired.

Only 4 dealers are listed in Bulgaria, 2 are in Sofia

2.2 is the Ford engine, no? If its the same as the Defender and Transit, they don't seem very robust. At least with a td5 the engine itself rarely grenaded.

Nope, it’s a belt driven PSA motor rather than Fords chain driven design. It’s a good engine, fit for 500k plus but as with most modern diesels there are concerns as it ages, mostly electrical or emissions control in nature. I’d far rather have this than JLR’s own newer 2.0 unit which is smoother but is fast developing a reputation for trouble.

Yes its belt and pulleys driven psa group diesel,

is also 3 litres i think again made by PSA group same reliability as 2.2 can you clarify please ?

Also whats wrong with 2.0 diesel?

I can only speak for Volvos and have had a few. They have a reputation for being expensive, certainly main dealers charge highly for service but a good indie makes ownership costs down. My current V70 cost me 8k 5 years ago and has done about 80k since then. Usual tyres, bulbs, brakes, a battery but touch wood apart from servicing pretty good. These cars can do starship mileages if kept well and are surprisingly good to drive.
