Citroen Berlingo Multispace 1.6/115 2013 - Fault Code P000E - Bromptonaut

Orange warning light came on with message Engine Fault on main screen. Car went to limp mode and will not rev over 3,000rpm.

Fault code per generic OBD II reader is P000E which apparently means Fuel Volume Regulator Control Exceeded Learning Limit

The fault clears but re-appears 15/20 seconds after re start.

May be relevant that it first appeared half a mile or so after topping up fuel tank from approx. half to full.

Thanks in anticipation.

The problem with generic scanners , is that’s exactly what they are, generic . Which means you are unlikely to get an accurate fault code for your problem . You need something with more advanced information. Remember that a fault code may be the result of another problem, not the cause .

I'm intrigued by why the read down of a code recorded on the car's electronics is 'unlikely to be accurate'. I appreciate of course that a fault can lead to multiple codes and that the real skill is in interpreting them.

Web searches suggest this code can be triggered by a blocked in tank fuel filter. Given this happened half a mile after taking on fuel I'm contemplating the obvious link...../

To tidy this one up:

Our usual Citroen garage, Perrys in MK couldn't fit us in until 9 November and in the end I went to the local French Car Specialist. I've used him over many years and been satisfied but after an issue where a well known problem with valve clearances on an XUD derived unit was diagnosed as a possible cracked head I lost faith. Needs must etc.

Professional diagnostics found two codes relating the EOLYS system; the pump had burned out.

Replacement fitted and fresh fluid added. Now all seems OK.
