Old girl coming up to 140k and has been brilliant. Needs a timing belt and associated bits soon, MOT Oct. Change it now while it's worth something or have the work done and hold on?

Just coming into the peroid of least depreciation and a devil you know well, i'd be looking forward to enjoying many years of really cheap motoring by running it for as long as possible, particularly as we enter one of the most uncertain economic periods of our lifetimes.

Anyway, where are you going to find another estate deserving of the name out of the current crop of slightly extended hatchbacks that comprise most modern equivalents.

Cambelts are not expensive on these - probably about 1.2-1.5 hours labour max.

You should replace the aux belt and tensioner every 54k on that model year though which is about the same as the cambelt!

Keep it Barney.

Even if you have to spend £500 on maintenance each and every year you keep it, this will be far less than the annual depreciation on something newer.

And as GB says, you know this car and its history.
