MINI One - Paid for part/labour that did not fix problem - Simon Bottle

Engine fault light came on.

A mobile mechanic came and fitted a new part costing £200+ plus labour which said fixed problem.

Having paid, it became immediately apparent that fix had not worked as engine light came back on and issue actually worse in terms of they way car drives.

Mechanic is now trying to charge me for another completely different part as another attempt at solving problem.

Where do I stand?

Also worth mentioning that has taken weeks and numerous last minute cancellations for 2nd fix which supposed to be happening today. Only received text saying I would have to pay for 2nd fix today too.

Sadly that seems to be the way many places work these days:

Scan car for codes.

Throw part at problem.

Hope problem goes away.

If not, throw another part. After all, its only the customer's money.

Diagosing is an art of reading live data and having lots of experience on a particular make or model.
