Toyota Corolla Verso 2003 - Drivers side speaker not working - Steveieb

Just bought a Corolla and found the right drivers door speaker doesn’t work.

Tried the balance controls etc and rear speakers both sides ok.

Understand the speaker is riveted in so no chance of checking it.

any ideas please ?

You haven’t got much choice. Drill out the rivets to remove the speaker . You can then test it with a digital meter or use a aa battery with a couple of wires and flash them across the speaker terminals to see if it “crackles” . Very often the rivets can be replaced by self tap screws when refitting .

If it's driver's door it more likely to be the wires fractured in the flex loom across the door shut, unfortunately, easier and cheaper job if it is the speaker.

Don't ask me how I know -several cars in the past with this problem.

Oh dear looks like a massive job probably involving removing the door card ?

Looks that way, there are quite a few youtube videos showing how the get the door card or sometimes they call it a cover, off.

You may need a set of plastic trim clip tools - it makes the job a bit easier with less risk of destroying whatever sort of clips are holding the door card on.

Can’t be difficult . It’s a Toyota , not an Audi/ VW .

You were right again Elemis doc . The speaker was open circuit.
