Followed by car while waking dog - West Suffolk - Trilogy.

Yesterday afternoon near Bury St Edmunds while walking the dog I was followed by a black BMW 3 series. I've since reported the incident to the police. The driver seemed more interested in the dog than me.

Unmarked plod, hoping you might do something you could be fined for re curfew?

Though you are right to be concerned, my wife tells me lots of stolen dogs reported over the last couple of years via faceache, i once happened to see a picture of the ruined face of a dog that been used as a bait dog by scum and then discarded, once seen that vision cannot be unseen, there is no punishment harsh enough.

Sadly, pets stolen for ransom is not a crime I wasn't aware of in this region. Presumably easier to deal with than nicking a car, CAT or valuables in the home. At the moment, the lockdown means many of thes lowlives have little opportunities, so it wouldn't surprise me if this was one of them 'doing their homework'.

Good idea to bring a camera phone with you when walking the dog, and to make sure people know where you're walking the dog when you go out, preferably somewhere where at least a few other people (preferably other genuine dog walkers and other locals go for exercise) frequent, rather than parts of the countryside that are out of the way and thus no-one would know you're there or on hand to help/report an incident.

Definitely not unmarked plod. Plod also mentioned the car was uninsured.

Changed route and time of walk, also making sure I'm walking where there are houses.

I wish I could draw a cartoon of a 3-series driven by an impatient young exec trying to get past Trilogy in the middle of the road trying to wake his dog.

You neglect to say what breed your dog is. Some are very valuable to 'puppy farms' and others for dog fighting. My daughter had a wonderful Staffordshire. Great looking dog. Heck of a pedigree too and worth a bob or two. If he could speak he probably wouldn't have spoken to us commoners! She was acutely aware of animal theft and always took precautions when out with him. It seems around here the culprits are those people who say they travel but never do, they just squat around stealing things not nailed down. Any decent breed is vulnerable.

Any decent breed is vulnerable.

When we were holidaying in Norfolk last September my Mrs reported someone following her when she took the dog for a walk early morning.

I went out the next morning and again, within about 5 minutes a likely looking oik was following. When my daughter's six foot rugby built boyfriend appeared the oik turned and walked the other way.

There are some right nasty so and sos around.
