I have an 08 Mondeo and when I try to activate the phone by pressing on the green phone button it just mutes my radio. Any idea how to get this sorted. Thanks.

That sounds normal. Use of the mobile mutes the radio. Normally you dial the number first then press the green button to initialise the call. At this point the radio should mute. PICNIC
