hello, I have not a clue about cars being female so I wonder if someone can please help.

I just bought a used Toyota avensis tspirit d-4d 2008 .

the car has a sat nav/cd player in one fitted.

the first time i put a cd in it played but when I tried another it would not play, it keeps saying check cd.

then a day later it just started playing the cd what was in there when I turned the car on but when I tried another cd it just keeps saying check cd again.

the radio stations work perfect just not the cd player .

the 2 cds I played are official bought from shop ones and also the ones that wont play are official.

I put in one of the disc cleaning things with a brush on but it just says check cd with that.

does anyone know if there is anyway I can get cd working. if not does anyone know how much it will cost aprox to have a new sat nav/cd fitted.

Possibly a fault with the laser reader in the cd unit . It may be repairable. I would think a new unit is more than the value of the car .

I think I will prob try to buy a 2nd hand nav unit if that is a good idea.i,m not sure if its wise to buy 2nd hand.?

i dont suppose it could be something like a loose connection behind the unit?

I had the same sort of issue with my SatNav.

I bought a new DVD/CD Cleaning disc in the PoundShop, the old cleaning disk failed.

Inserted it - ejected it and all is well.

Before you spend the £1 maybe wiping the CD with a glass cleaner might do the job.
