Mercedies 2.1 CDI - Fuel Injector issue - strickjumpers

Attempting to assist a friend replacing the copper seal on fuel injector as it was puffing mist into the engine compartment while running. injector removed and evidence of leak past distorted seal, dressed the seat in the head with correct tool, replaced the injector using new copper washer and stretch bolt, torqued to correct figure and then the correct degree to tighten. on start, found to be the same and when stretch bolt was removed coolant started pouring out, re did the job with thicker washer and same again, transpires the mist being ejected is coolant. does anyone know why engine coolant would be pumping out the bolt hole, cracked head or cylinder head gasket blown? Any advice extremely welcome, thanks, Mike.

I suspect someone has been there before. Very common for the injector clamp bolt to pull its thread out of the head . I guess it has been drilled too deep or a too long bolt has previously been fitted and hit the water jacket . Correct remedial procedure is to take the hole out to the next size diameter , but use the correct length bolt . This needs a careful approach .

thanks, this is the 3rd time this had been done to this injector over the last couple of years. threads are solid but bolt does look long, however the same size as the new one from merc! bit bemused. mike.
