If you're in the UK you may not need health insurance. There is the NHS.

Maybe they do not mean "health insurance" BUT actually mean Insurance to pay out "duet o long term sickness"

i.e. cancer / heart condition / stroke - that means you cannot do the job for the next 20/30 year but pays out say 50/60% of your earnings for life.

Looks like he needs to speak to a broker / trawls internet for quotes.

I was paying for life cover with my pension provider. Found same life cover & sickness cover for just a little more than I had been paying by trawling internet - 2 separate policies.

If you have a problem reading and understanding what the various policies are offering, maybe you should visit a high-street brokers and have a face-to-face discussion with someone.

Alright thank you FP. So how to find a reliable insurance agents from independent or captive agents?

Not cheap, and pre-existing conditions and maybe sooner rather than later after manditory screenings for genetic predispositions to certain diseases reveal something that could easily lead to something very serious and in a short time, which would all be excluded from viable claims.

Other expensive items would be, for example, for people working in construction for coverage concerning asbestos-related diseases or workplace injuries, similarly for people with other potentially dangerous jobs. These all HAVE to be declared, including if a person is about to change career/job to one that would attract a far higher premium. SImilarly for people involved in more dangerous activity sports, which may require separate (expensive) insurance.

I remember I was quoted (as a single man in my early 30s, in good health, mainly office-based but working in construction) about £75pm back in 2006, and that was for a basic policy for sickness cover for about a year or so (to cover lost wages only), not long-term health problems for the rest of my life.

Thank for sharing information Andy and cleared some of my doubts. So it all depends upon on our health condition and way of life style we are living.
