qashqui 1.5 diesel 2010 - white smoke out of exhaust and won't rev beyond 8 - sparky100

Hi, my daughters qashqui was driving perfectly till last night, she went to start it this morning and it started very roughly and white smoke came from the exhaust.

Would anyone have any ideas what could be wrong before she contacts a garage.

Could it be a blocked fuel filter or somethink more serious.

White smoke is an indication of unburnt fuel . This will have the Renault dci engine , which are known for injector issues.

Yes, should have read 800rpm.

It now won't start. Sparky100.
