2 injectors per cylinder, which manufacturers ? - Lrac

I am sure I read somewhere that some manufacturers of direct injection engines were fitting an additional injector into the inlet port. I thought it was an article on Suzuki engines. I now cannot find any reference to such a system.

Did I have a dream that has eliminated the valve choking up problems? Or has anyone else any knowledge of this development?

the latest 2.0 available in the Toyota Corolla Hybrid here has both port & direct injection.

I think I read somewhere that Mazda were doing something along those lines in their new Sky Active engine, using whichever system was optimum at any one time.

Early GDi motors such as Mitsubishi’s 1800 GDi and VAG’s 1600 FSi were pretty notorious for carbon build up. The secondary injectors are a solution to this problem without losing the economy and performance benefits of direct injection.
