I can't recall where I saw the article now but it reported sales of non premium SUVs are down nearly 20%. SUV sales and those of hatchbacks are now about even at around 40% each. The Keep Up With The Jones' were moving to SUVs to be one ahead of the neighbours with hatchbacks. When the hatchback next door was "upgraded" to a SUV, the next move was to a premium SUV. My guess is that the MG is selling well because it's the next big thing, an EV SUV and a cheap one at that.
