Vauxhall Corsa D petrol - Engine management light on - Galad

Hi all

The orange engine management light on my Corsa 1.2 (2007 petrol) is glowing (but not flashing) and neighbour suggests that it's an emission issue probably requiring a new Lambda sensor. Is this an expensive repair and can it be done quickly? Car is due MOT and I understand that this light on will fail the test.
