Auris Hybrid Business Edition - Should I buy a 2017 Auris Hybrid - Brummie_sam

Hello

A local dealer has a 2017 Auris Hybrid Business Edition with a full service history. He'll sell it for £14000. I'd plan to keep it for a long time (5 years or more).

Is it a good buy? What problems should I look out for?

Thank you

Has it got a FULL Toyota service history?

If so it has 3 years warranty left. TICK

Is it accident free?

Condition - inside & out.

How does £14K stack up against same age, mileage & condition from a Toyota franchise.

Toyota franchises have the best 2nd hand Toyotas.

It has a full toyota service history (at a main dealer).

The previous owner was an accountant who traded it in for a lexus

Outside is fine. Inside has a few scuffs

It has no accidents

The nearest Toyota dealer has a similar Auris (Business edition, 2017 with FSH) for £1000 more (it's not manufacturer approved though)

As long as the service history is spot on and all Toyota then it’s a good car. Well liked by the taxi trade (particularly the estate) so resale is easy and demand strong. Bodes well that the last owner bought another Toyota product too, most likely another hybrid too but salesmen often tell you this line even when the car was actually bought in and not part exchanged. I suspect it’s the truth here though as a Lexus dealer typically wouldn’t buy one of these in.

Price depends on it's mileage but if lowish thats a reasonable price

Give a good test drive as driving the Toyota hybrid is a bit "Marmite" you either love it or hate it. It suits a more gentle driving style - I have a friends who have different Toyota hybrids (Auris, Prius, Yaris etc.) and they love them, infact some of them have had more than one. If its just the hatch version then the boot is tiny, touring estate much bigger.

The oily bits are simple and long lived but make sure there are no warning lights. Check the condition of the brakes (especially discs!) as they are lightly used because of the regenerative braking and can rust.

Condition / service history is all and make sure you HPI check it (don't just rely on the garage for this!)

I'm amazed it hasn't already been snapped up by a taxi driver. Our Toyota main dealer has a waiting list for these. As soon as an ex PCP comes in they sell it same day.

They are good for 200,000 miles at least.
