Loner Arranger - correct. The insurers did what you paid them to do. They paid your claim and gave you a car until they did so and for 7 after that. You should have been shopping around for a replacement as soon as you knew the car would be written off so you could make the purchase when the money came through. It's not their job to ferry you around at your own convenience.

Which? Hunt - some confusion here from HJ on the Honda CR-V Hybrid. As he well knows, it's a full hybrid, and doesn't have a CVT. It's the normal petrol CR-V that has the CVT he describes.

Talkin bout regeneration

I have a ford transit connect diesel 68 plate ( company van ) I’ve had a regeneration in progress keep driving message come up a couple of months back, so it seems manufacturers can fit messages warning of regeneration taking place....unless,of course, it’s just for fleet users..

About automatics
I have a Mondeo Vignale 180hp diesel automatic. Is this a dreaded power shift box?

Also considering replacing my 2013 Porsche Cayman manual with a Toyota GT86 automatic. I am terrified by the repair costs of the Porsche (£3500 for new steering rack at 24000miles recently!). My wife refuses to drive the Porsche because of the electric' handbrake'. The Toyota has a 5 year warranty, a spare wheel and an ordinary handbrake. Am I going insane to think of changing the Porsche?

Re :Unequipped for the modern world? Around 94% of the adult population have a mobile phone, the vast majority will be "smart" phones, if only because that is what they sell. Once 5G comes along we will be more dependant on smart phones, to control everything from cars to cookers.

You can easily buy a perfectly good Iphone 5S for £59, run the app to pay whom you want and use it as a non smart phone for the rest of the time. It is neither difficult, complicated or expensive.)it is what I do)

People complaining - except the very elderly who may be incapable of using a smartphone - remind me of people who complained about decimal currency..

You will of course, need to keep that 5s plugged in permanently, because the battery only holds enough charge for 5 minutes use.

For an extra tenner, you could buy a brand new budget smart phone with no battery issues.

I have a number of work colleagues and three family members who don't have smartphones.I also have two friends who don't own mobile phones!. As for 5G. We don't have 4G in our Town and my parents village doesn't have a mobile signal at all.
