I was thinking of changing to another diesel car, a bit of an upgrade but with all this anti diesel stuff now I have got cold feet. I think resale values will be low later and wonder what other back roomers think.

doesn't seem to stop people buying them even though they are advised not to, as I already have a 2016 diesel I may as well stick to it as its value has dropped (according to wbac) more than I expected now worth 7k, a year ago it was 10k

imo if your going to keep it its worth getting unless your worried about possible tax hikes in the future though for me its still worth keeping, as far as I`m concerned the car is lost money so it doesn't bother me but some don't like losing value on a car

Hedge your bets by buying a used diesel - residual values have plummeted over the last couple of years so they're cheap to buy - I'd aim around 2016-17 models which will be Euro 6 and relatively safe from city emission charging schemes.
