BMW 5 Series Touring - Help!! Boot won’t open! - Fatcamel
Hi all... so... for some reason my boot won’t open properly. If I try to open using key fob button or using the button by steering column or using the boot release button on the boot, it just makes a noise like it is opening, and moves about half a centre meter but doesn’t open. Has anyone got any suggestions please? I’m supposed to be on holiday on Tuesday and need to have access to the boot!! I’m hoping it’s something obvious and simple to someone, or there is a way to manually open? I’m not very technical and can’t see there is anywhere to use the actual key rather than an ‘electric’ type opening mechanism.

It may something jammed in the latch? Try pulling the gate up while pressing the remote. Does the glass part open if you press the switch at the base of the wiper arm?

Unfortunately, the glass bit has never opened since I bought the car. I have tried pulling up at same time as pressing button, but no luck. I’ll try to get intoned boot and take the pram out, in case that’s causing some sort of jame though.

So... some more information... I can use the internal manual catch to open the boot. I’ve oiled the mechanism but doesn’t seem to make a different. However... in addition, the bonnet doesn’t seem to want to open now either. I pull the handle by the steering column and it ‘pops’ but the the bonnet isn’t open enough to reach the release ‘finger pull’!! Any ideas!! Thank you for your help!
