Ford Transit - What causes a lock to work ONLY when its cold? - Falcs

The side sliding door on my transit is pretty strange, in cold weather i get the loud "clunk" and it unlocks fine. In warmer weather i get a weaker "clunk" and it doesnt unlock.

Any ideas what I should suspect?

Would a likely suspect be the solenoid?

Could be a fault with the door lock actuator. I would check the spring loaded pin contacts and pads where the door shuts. Make sure they are clean .

Bounce-back, inhibited by stiffer grease when cold.

(I just made that up)
