I don't understand the price graphs. I get that there is a price guide underneath, but what are the prices being compared to? Graphs usually have 2 axes, but I have no idea what the vertical axis refers to ... age, mileage, what?

Does anyone know?

If she is referring to the bar graphs shown when using the "Value my car" feature, the height of the bar at each price point indicates how many cars were advertised at that price point.

The highest bar represents the most common value, lower or higher priced examples are obviously less common, so lower bars.

That is my interpretation, if anyone has better knowledge of this I'm happy to be corrected.

When you try enter a registration number, in order to find a price for a car you want to buy or sell.

What!

I am asking a perfectly reasonable question. Why are you so rude?

Oh! Sorry, my mistake. I am not used to this forum layout.

I apologise Galileo.

I agree. I just think the graph is confusing. there appears to be random prices on the X-axis and nothing on the Y axis. Just trying to work out what the information is supposed to represent.

I take the height of the bars to be the number of cars offered in each price band, so you get a histogram showing the spread of prices.

Shame the x -axis doesn't have a better scale as well.

Thanks Manalee. That makes sense.
