2009 Ford Mondeo 1.8 Diesel, 125bhp model - Issue with Power Loss - Nathaniel Keneally-Smith

Hi all,

I'm having power loss issues that no one else seems to have.

My car works perfectly fine with full power, full rev range, all gears, delight to drive. The issue ONLY occurs within a minute or so of reaching 70mph. Once I've reached 70mph (or there abouts) it doesn't matter how slow I go, the power is gone. The turbo doesn't kick in, anything above 3rd gear gives minimal power, I can't reach 70mph on anything more than 0 gradient and I lose speed in 7th gear going on a slight up hill at 70mph.

Recently passed its MOT and had a full service at Ford with no faults whatsoever.

No oil leaks, fuel leaks, coolant leaks and no split hoses whatsoever so I think whatever's causing the issue is mechanical and internal i.e EGR valve etc.

Also recently had the turbo replaced so I suspect that could have caused an issue. I don't want to take it to Ford just for them to have it for a day and give nothing back as they have never diagnosed problems in the past. They couldn't even diagnose a sheered turbo that sounded like a cat was stuck in my engine block. The issue started about a month after this got changed.

Any and all help is very much appreciated. Last resort is to take it to a diesel specialist.

Thanks again!

Nathaniel

Could be due to back pressure in the exhaust, partially blocked cat possibly.

My bet is that you have a faulty turbo control valve or chloged fuel filter
