I have a corsa D 1.7 cdti 2009 with loss of acceleration (won't do over about 2600 revs) and engine light on. The car also stalled twice after cold start. I have taken it to my nearest open dealer here in Ireland. The 1.7 cdti was not sold by open in Ireland it's a UK spec and registered car. The car has been with the dealer a week now and they suspect either the ecu or the wiring may be at fault. I am thinking this could be a very expensive repair and the car is not worth that much. Does anyone have any experience or advice to offer me on this corsa issue? Thanks

Go to the Vauxhall astra/corsa/vectra owners forums, plenty there.

There's an indy company called BBA REMAN who can test and repair ECUs. Might be a cheaper option.

Your car is going into limp mode. It would be interesting to see what fault codes are coming up and how the dealer has leapt to the expensive conclusion of "ecu fault".

I sometimes get the impression that main dealers no longer have the expertise or want mechanical jobs.

I would not have thought the ECU repair was not as expensive as a new EGR and a new exhaust ,maybe wrong..The garage has obviously done its homework rightly or wrongly.they are looking at the car not us.
