Responsible fellow:

You'd have to wonder what kind of overtaking they do in their fleet when they need fast acceleration from 0 mph!
- Zeus B
Low in-gear acceleration is more useful for overtaking thxn 0-60 times.

It is low in gear acceleration that is used FOR overtaking.

I would have respected the poster more if he had been honest and said we want something to bomb around country lanes like an idiot.

There's no way I am going to try to read the Harley Davidson ariticle. Too many words without any "white space" (paragraphs) to break it up.

- Exactly my reaction! Doubtless HJ is under time pressures, but a little editing would help...

Yes agreed you see it and skip as it's too long

I would suggest to KW of Harlow that " I know you are supposed to act on another driver’s indicator," is a very risky strategy which could easily end in tears. I am surprised that HJ didn't pick up on this.

Re the auxiliary battery on Lexus Hybrids I moved close to work about two and a half years ago and have subsequently only done about two miles per day. My RX has had no trouble maintaining the charge of the auxiliary battery. They need replacing every four years to be safe anyway as a small drop in capacity soon causes problems. (first sign usually "put car in park before starting" message and a refusal to start.) But charge-wise you won't have a problem unless you have a habit of sitting in you car listening to the radio etc without the hybrid system being active. LX450h are as close as you'll get to a totally reliable luxury car. I'd advise you change the auxiliary battery as a matter of course with any second-hand RX or LX purchase, a 5 minute job...

1) Open the bonnet
2) Leaving door and bonnet open, put all keys out of range of the car (your microwave oven is a good faraday cage)
3) Unbolt the batter retainer.
4) Remove the negative (black) cable
5) Remove the positive (red) cable.
6) Replace battery
7) Bolt up retainer.
8) replace positive cable (a smear of electrolyre grease on the better terminals wouldn't go amiss)
9) Replace negative cable.
10) Retrieve keys
11) Turn on ignition
12) Open and close all electric windows fully with (local not driver door) buttons, do the same for the sunroof (if fitted)

I keep a £25 mobile phone sized jump pack in the car for emergencies, but have never needed to use it. I charge it via a USB cigarette lighter jack every 3 or 4 months on a long journey.

I had to check twice. RF really is expecting not to pay for an engine re-build on a 17 year old utility vehicle. Seriously?
