Focus MKII 2009 1.8 (Mazda Engine - Ford Focus - Peter D

Occassionaly the car will start but tick over at 500 rpm and will not respond to the throttle. Shut it down and restart and problem clears mostly first time. Any Ideas welcome. Regards Peter

Pretty sure Ford used to have issues with throttle bodies on some of the 2 litre Focus models. The 1.8 will probably use many of the same parts (same engine - just smaller) so its worth investigating this.

Why not ask on the Focus Forum, they will have seen similar for certain.

I would get the battery tested. Low voltage during cranking can cause these problems.
