VW jetta 08 - No speedo/miles/no lights on clock - Roy Brown

Hi have an 08 jetta 1.9 tdi the dash clocks display the miles and trip which is zero, but driving about neither go up, the speedo and rev counter dont work and warning lights regarding oil/abs/airbag etc are on

Scanned with vcds and the following came up, but not sure where too start?

I would start by checking fuses in both the engine bay and cabin fuseboxes. If they are all ok,then disconnect the battery for 5 mins to see if this re-instates functions. Failing these ,then I would book yourself a course on can-bus diagnostics;www.warwickcontrol.com/

Thanks for that I will try those steps this eve. If they dont work, would it be a big job to just replace the clocks from another? Not sure about ihow the mmobiliser etc would work then

Not so easy ,i'm afraid. You need to confirm the pod is at fault. These are coded to the car and contain the security and immobiliser info . So a s/hand pod will make the car unusable.

I managed to go into the output tests in vag com and both the speedometer and rev counter worked fine...so I disconnected the battery for 5 or 10 mins, re-connected it and cleared the faults but they just came straight back on. I did check fuses but I will get a better look at them all tomorrow...
