Re potholes. Whilst I'm as frustrated as anyone with the hundreds of speed cushions that have appeared over years, if HJ has evidence of 'massive corruption' and 'officers receving kickbacks' from contractors (and also by stating 'usual' appearing to make it every local authority contract is ran by 'bent staff') he should make the evidence known and share it with the local Council Chief Executive and the Police.

If he has no evidence the response should be amended.

Re For By Ford.

Thought Ford were in talks with VAG about commercial vehicle joint-ventures/alliance, not a full merger consideration??

As HJ names no individual or organisation, his remark is not actionable; it is an opinion, not an accusation, and he can maintain it with impunity and with no need to amend it. For your part, you may choose not to believe it if you wish.

An opinion based on what facts? The bloke down the pub has an "opinion" but no one's listening to him. HJ has a powerful platform to opine from and therefore should tread carefully, he's spouted these accusations before (Tony Blair ran the scam apparently) - Corruption happened in Rome but there's little evidence of it being uncovered in the UK (please prove me wrong). BTW - Its obvious the pothole epidemic is attributable frost weathering, the action of ice expansion during the previous cold winter. p*** poor maintenance not withstanding.

I accept comprehension can be difficult for some, but the response states:

"There was the usual massive corruption with kickbacks from contractors to council officers "

This is not an opinion it is a statement of fact.

If you regard it as a statement of fact, you have just vouched for its truth - in your view. As we have seen above, some views are sillier than others, but everyone, even you, remains entitled to their confused perceptions.

Back in the mid 80's - I modelled the traffic light system in the small city I lived in; after all the timing had been changed for no obvious reason.

(A bit of fun with the college computer system).

I couldnt be 100% accurate, due to one set of lights that had a semi random change time (could be over-ridden by the fire station), but if you went by the average for that light, to get through town on any of the three main routes without encountering a red light, you needed to average 94mph!!
