2003 Astra - oil on spark plug? - omega3

Hi

I have a 2003 1.6 astra, and the far right spark plug keeps oiling up

I have just replace it again today, only had car for 9 months,

last time garage replaced plug, 6 months ago when car started to splutter, miss fire

47k on clock, low mileage for year,

is this a worn cylinder ring ?

local garage seems to think not worth repairing ?

Certainly not worth throwing loads of money at this. Possibly sticking piston/oil control rings rather than worn out .May be an idea to pour some redex or similar down the bore and let it soak overnight. Change the oil and filter and use a good qualty 10/40 oil .I would guess the low mileage may have caused the problem.

I will try out your suggestions, so remove the offending plug, and poor redex straight down into hole (where removed spark plug is) ?

Yes,you got it. Remove s/plug and drop around 20ml into the cylinder and leave soak overnight..

just thought I would report back, and say major thanks

would appear the pouring redex down the into cylinder has worked

am not burning oil any more and plug looks ok

thank you and ebay for cheap syringe (with flexible hose to get down into bore)

I have an old fiesta with a similar problem, which type of Redex did you use ? ( there appears to be more than one type ) thank you
