BMW 3 Series 320d E90 - Economy - Distance or Time - DJ2404

Just moved, and as the crow flies, I'm only about 12 miles from work.

2 potential routes:

1. Mainly motorway - quicker but more miles (Google preferred)

2. Mainly A road - slower but shorter.

Time doesn't worry me, economy does, so which is likely to use less go-juice?

Fill car to brim and use A road one week and repeat using motorway. Longer would be better and if you use car for other trips it will mess it up. Guess car has no trip computer.

The shorter distance would favour the A road also the likely lower speed but please don’t drive at 40 on a 60 limit, it annoys other motorists especially HGVs. You don’t have to drive at 70 on motorway as long as not hold up traffic, again especially the HGVs.

If you have to slow down or stop frequently on the A road the fuel cost of accelerating will offset the gains so hard to say absolutely. Also it then can become a more stressful journey.
