I recall on our VW Touran a long press of the unlock button on the remote lowered all windows ( a feature for cooling the cars interior on our few hot days, prior to entering the car)

It's exactly the same on BMW/MINI. If you've inadvertently pressed and held on the fob button (tight jeans can be a real problem for this !) then all windows will open fully.

Thanks for the replies. Yes it must have got long pressed in my back pocket when I was working. It's a bit of a security risk really, if I'd have been parked in a dodgy area theives could have taken things. And remotes work from such a long distance these days.

Ive had 2 passats and both if you held down the unlock button for a certin lenght of seconds it would lower all 4 windows and the vise versa hold down the lock button and it will raise all 4 windows. Hope this helps and solves the matter

Mark 3 Mondeo did exactly the same. Useful if you left a window open.
