Ford Mondeo mk3 2.0 petrol - Auto with poor power at low revs - kastner

From a standing start 1st gear doesn't receive much power about half of the time. Once going the power isn't bad but probably not what it should be. Other than obvious servicing or head gasket issues is there a common fault related to Mondeos of this nature?

Not much to go wrong on these.It is basically a Mazda power plant.I would start with basic service items,plugs ,oils filters etc.Also check the auto trans fluid level. The car must be at least 12 years old ,so don't throw too much good money at it.
